Form NJ-W4 2010-2022: What You Should Know

The form shows the earnings and the withholding rates. If you earn less than the base limit each year, you get an annual advance payment, and the IRS then sends you withholding statements for the next year: The amount of your base amount of wages for the previous year, plus or minus an amount depending on your annual base limit, and your estimated future base and earnings. If you are not a US citizen or permanent resident, then the amount of income tax paid to the IRS. This advance payment is then used for various purposes, including Social Security, Medicare, unemployment insurance and worker's compensation, as well as other financial assistance such as student loans and housing. You get these payments for years before you start to work and for the first two years, you must pay an advance. This means that if you want to file your taxes in the form W-4 on April 15, 2019, the IRS will send you a tax payment schedule and will automatically send you a 1099-INT, with your withholding and estimated earnings. For example, say your base amount for 2017 is 40,600. The 2018 IRS withholding schedule will show the amount of tax due, with an estimated base amount of 43,400 (the base limit plus an additional 9,000, or 25.8% of the base amount), withholding rate 1.45%, and estimated earnings of 32,400. You are entitled to receive 13,200 from the IRS for 2018. However, the IRS will automatically send you a 1099-INT for 2018 after May 17, 2018, for an estimated base amount of 46,400 (42,300 – 13,200) and wage base amount of 50,900.
